I think you will agree with me when I say,

It is a PAIN to not able to attract or impress people with a not so great personality of yours.

But don’t worry at all, it turns out that you can dramatically boost your personality.

……by just knowing 6 questions.

In today’s post, I am going to show you what are these 6 questions and exactly how you can become a strong personality.

P.S.: We were trying for development in our personality via completely wrong way. Read ahead to know how?

We all were trying to solve the wrong question:

We searched “Personality Development” on Google. But what are we really trying to talk about? What are we really trying to do? We need to ask ourselves, why have I come to this personality development blog? What is that exact thing that made me come here?

When we talk about personality development, let us understand this topic “Personality Development” very clearly. This blog is not going to focus on giving you tips or strategies for developing your personality. It will do better. This blog is going to focus on permanently solving the real problem behind your question “personality development”. We are going to go deep and understand exactly what we are aiming for?

Let’s get this straight, simple and clear for your searched topic “Personality Development”. We want to develop our personality because

  • We are trying to stand out within our group, within our organization, within our society, within our country.

  • We want to have a unique identity.

  • We want more compliments;

  • We want people to notice us when we enter inside our office or a party or a group.

  • We want to leave a lasting impression about ourselves when we are in a group or with someone.

  • Isn’t it?

Development in personality leads to appreciation by people.
We all are trying to be the center of attraction.

So, what is the right question:

Let’s go deeper, why do we want all of this?

Most of you will agree to me when I say, we want to get the feeling of satisfaction.

Does it stop here? Not really.

With this satisfaction, we expect to become happy.

So ultimately what we are looking for is “happiness”.

We are searching for this, by trying to develop our personality by

  • Watching some video

  • Attending some program

  • Taking up some personality training, etc.

They may give you some to-do list, like “Be confident” or “ Be a good listener” but the problem is that we are trying to imitate the result before trying to solve the real problem. Confused? Stay with me.

Let’s take the tip number 1: Be Confident. It sounds good. But wait a minute, how to be confident? And in what field to be confident?

Revealing the secret:

What if I tell you that, these all qualities to get an attractive personality are “byproducts”?

Yes, you heard it right. An attractive personality is a byproduct.

Of what?

If you are internally peaceful, happy, at ease and bliss then you will radiate that out, in the form of an attractive personality. Isn’t it? You will start attracting people. You will start making people at peace, happy, etc when they are around you. Makes sense?

It is like; one can only give that which he/she has.

For e.g. If you have $100, only then there is a chance that you can give $100 to someone. But if you have $0 then how can you even think of giving $1. You have none.

Similarly, you can radiate happiness only when you have it internally?

Now we get the real problem.

We have to become happy internally. If we can do this then all our problems get solved, automatically. We end up with the real development of our personality”. Simple. Isn’t it?

Answers :

1. Is this even for real?

A Big yes.

2. How can I be happy from within so that my personality develops?

Self-realization. You need to become self-realized to become happy from within. Maybe a new word for you? But this word will be the most important topic for you in your search for the development of personality.

3. What is Self-realization?

It means to understand that who are we, really?

Ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I the face?

  • Am I the hand?

  • The legs?

  • Eyes or hair?

  • Am I this body?

The Answer will be a huge “No”. I am none of them. Isn’t it?

So am I the mind or Intelligence?

No, you are not the mind or intelligence.

So who am I? This is the most important topic to help you with the development of your personality. I can’t emphasize this enough.

Kindly read this with your full attention.

This is the most vital statement.

“You are not this body, you are a spirit soul.”

Yes, you heard it right. You, me and every living being are a spirit soul.

The proof is when we see someone has left his/her body, what do we say? Yes, you are right. We say “He/She has left her body” or “He/ She has passed away”

Who is “this He/She” which has died? Because we can see that the body is there in front of us. But something is missing. Consciousness or in simple language “The Soul.”

Help From An Ancient Indian Scripture :

Bhagavad Gita as it is, a 5000 years old book from the rich Indian scriptures. It is known as the King in the Indian scriptures. Lord Krishna spoke this knowledge to Arjun (the greatest warrior of his time) 5000 years back. In this conversation.

Lord Krishna the supreme personality of godhead, says in

Bhagavad Gita as it is, Ch.2 verse 13

How our personality does a development in different stages of soul.

dehino ’smin yathā dehe

kaumāraṁ yauvanaṁ jarā tathā dehāntara-prāptir

dhīras tatra na muhyati

Translation:

As the embodied soul continuously passes, in this body, from boyhood to youth to old age, the soul similarly passes into another body at death. A sober person is not bewildered by such a change.

So we understand that at one point in time when we came out crying from the womb of our respective mothers, we had a body that weighed around 3 to 4 kg. But look at yourself in the mirror right now. Do you have the same body? No, your bodies have grown. So we see that we are changing the bodies in this life itself. But what is not changing? That’s the soul. Similarly, we are going to leave this body and take a new body.

Hence we hear, “that even if my body is not supporting me, my spirit is high.” This spirit is nothing else but the soul. Nothing can happen to soul, this we understand it from the same book of knowledge, Bhagavad Gita as it is.

To conclude this question, we can become happy by realizing that we are soul, not the body. This is knowledge. Let us understand, how can we use this knowledge to get eternal happiness.

3. Glories of “Eternal happiness” which is from within?

Our goal is to become happy all the time to get a developed personality.

Let’s fly through the Bhagavad Gita as it is,

to Ch 6 verses 20,21,22.

Lord Krishna says

yatra caivātmanātmānaṁ paśyann ātmani tuṣyati

sukham ātyantikaṁ yat tad buddhi-grāhyam atīndriyam

vetti yatra na caivāyaṁ sthitaś calati tattvataḥ

yaṁ labdhvā cāparaṁ lābhaṁ manyate nādhikaṁ tataḥ

yasmin sthito na duḥkhena guruṇāpi vicālyate

Translation:

This perfection is characterized by one’s ability to see the Self by the pure mind and to relish and rejoice in the Self. In that joyous state, one is situated in boundless transcendental happiness, realized through transcendental senses. Established thus, one never departs from the truth, and upon gaining this he thinks there is no greater gain. Being situated in such a position, one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty.

One’s ability to see the self means to see the self as the soul, which we discussed earlier.

Bhagavad Gita as it is, says that you will “relish” and “rejoice” when you know the self. The use of words like “joyous state” and “boundless transcendental happiness” shows what can we achieve if we get self-realized.

The meaning of transcendental is beyond temporary. The cherry on the cake is the line at the end “one is never shaken, even in the midst of greatest difficulty.” So this happiness is from within and is never going to end or go away from you.

In the same book Bhagavad Gita as it is, Ch 5 verses 21, Lord Krishna says

“sukham akṣayam aśnute”, which means the self-realized person enjoys unlimited happiness”.

Unlimited Happiness, for Personality development
“sukham akṣayam aśnute”, the self-realized person enjoys unlimited happiness.

4. Why can’t external happiness help me in the development of my personality?

External happiness is for a short time and the problem is that they end.

An example of this topic will be the experience of watching a movie.

What do you think, how many times can you watch your favorite movie at a go? Maybe 3 or 4 times. Not more than that. Why don’t you watch the movie continually, till your last breath? It is your favorite movie, you will have such a good time watching it again and again and again. Isn’t it? NO.

Because once you have watched that movie, now you know what is the story and now you are not really that excited to watch it again, am I right?

And your taste to watch this movie will decrease gradually as many times you watch it. Actually you will feel the pain to watch it 3rd or 4th time continually.

Why is this? Because happiness that comes from outside has a beginning and end and it is for some time, meaning temporary.

External Happiness, Personality Development.
External Happiness has beginning and END, should it be desirable?

Lord Krishna confirms this in Bhagavad Gita as it is Ch 5 verse 22,

ye hi saṁsparśa-jā bhogā duḥkha-yonaya eva te ādy-antavantaḥ kaunteya na teṣu ramate budhaḥ

Translation:

An intelligent person does not take part in the sources of misery, which are due to contact with the material senses. O son of Kuntī, such pleasures have a beginning and an end, and so the wise man does not delight in them.

Srila Prabhupad explains this verse in the book, external happiness, which is all temporary because the body itself is temporary. A self-realized soul is not interested in anything, which is temporary.

Knowing well the glories of transcendental pleasures (Eternal Happiness), how can a self-realized soul agree to enjoy temporary pleasure?

Hence, we understand that external happiness cannot help you in development of your personality.
